I can't seem to make new friends. 01/16/17
Hello Tina,
My name is Sally. I’m 19 and have always had a difficult time making friends. I make small talk with people in class, but it never goes anywhere from there. I’m a good person and I’ve been told that I’m pretty good looking. Why wouldn’t people want to be my friend? I have been feeling so alone in this world.
My response: Heyy Sally. People always tell me it was easy for them to make friends but when I look at myself it wasn't easy at all. I had so many insecurities to get over that making friends for me was impossible. I tried getting out of my shell and it was a good feeling. The first step to overcoming your difficult time making friends is to learn to shrug off the restrictions of self-awareness before even trying to communicate with others. Yes, I know it will be hard to do that but if you are tired of feeling alone you must try to take the first step. I believe some people out there are naturally to be friends with almost anyone near them. Also, some people are preserved and don't like the idea of interacting. I'm more of the 2nd one but now I try to be a mixture of both. Everyone should try to enjoy life to the fullest, having some friends who are close to you is better than having millions of friends but they don't even know your first name. Take care.
